ALEXANDRE MACHADO / FERNANDA YOUNG

(SCREENWRITERS) When Fernanda Young and Alexandre Machado were approached with the offer to to write BOSSA NOVA, they thought it was a joke. "It was such a surprise it took me a while to realize it was true," says Fernanda. At 29, she's one of the most acclaimed authors of her generation. Fernanda published her first book, Vergonha dos Pés, in 1997, which was received as the revelation of a new and very peculiar talent. Two other books followed - A Sombra de Vossas Asas, and Carta para Alguém Bem Perto, both published by Editora Objetiva. Since 1995, she's been a member of Guel Arraes' writing team, at TV Globo, contributing with her creative writing to shows such as A Comédia da Vida Privada, and A Vida ao Vivo Show, in collaboration with her husband, publicist Alexandre Machado. Fernanda and Alexandre are both cariocas, i.e. born in Rio, but have been residing in São Paulo for the past five years. BOSSA NOVA is the first screenplay they've written in collaboration.
