Mute Witness

SYNOPSIS:

"Mute Witness" is a exhilarating horror/suspense film that gleefully ricochets from laughter to terror.

Written and directed by Anthony Waller, this American independent production shot and set in Moscow is the story of three unsuspecting Americans who find themselves in a dangerous situation out of their control. One of them, Billy (Russian actress Marina Sudina), is a mute makeup/special effects artist working on a low-budget slasher film who, locked in the broken-down film studio late at night, thinks she witnesses the making of a snuff film. Thus begins a night of terror when her friends, who try to help her, get trapped in a complex web of lies and life-threatening situations involving the KGB, the Moscow Police and an organized crime kingpin known as the "The Reaper."

At once paying homage to and dressing down the conventions of the thriller/horror genre, Anthony Waller has made a funny, scary and accessible directorial debut that offers audiences a smart kind of escapism reminiscent of early DePalma.

"Mute Witness" is produced by Alexander Buchman, Norbert Soentgen and Anthony Waller. Coproducers are Gregory Riazhsky and Alexander Atanesjan. Executive producer is Richard Claus. The Principal cast Includes Sudina, Evan Richards, Fay Ripley and Oleg Jankowskij.
