Christina Ricci plays Dedee, a rebellious teenager experienced in the ways of the world who runs away and moves in with her older half-brother Bill. As soon as she arrives to get her life back together, she begins to turn Bill's life upside down. As the story progresses, Dedee pulls everyone she comes in contact with into her mishaps.
Ricci has become one of Hollywood's most respected actresses. She has been awarded the
prestigious N.A.T.O. ShowEast Star of the Year Award (1995) and the Star of Tomorrow Award ( l 995) from the Motion Picture Bookers' Club.
Her performance at age 8 in a school Christmas play caught the attention of a local theater critic, who suggested to Christina's parents that she consider an acting career. She made her professional acting debut one year later in Mermaids, in the pivotal role of Cher's youngest daughter and Winona Ryder's sister.
Ricci portrayed the strangely adorable Wednesday in The Addams Family and was given an expanded role in the sequel, Addams Family Values. She went on to star in Casper, as a 12-year-old who ends up befriending a ghost. Next she starred in Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain, as a polished 13-year-old city slicker involved in a daring quest for a legendary treasure. She also co-starred in Now and Then, a coming-of-age story produced by Demi Moore.
Ricci will next be featured in Ang Lee's Ice Storm, opposite Kevin Klein, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Allen and Elijah Wood; Last of the High Kings, with Gabriel Byrne and Jared Leto; and Buffalo 66, Vincent Gallo's directorial debut.
