An RSC-trained actor, Mark Lewis Jones has recently completed filming the lead in a new series of The Knock. Other television roles include parts in Soldier, Dangerfield, This Life, Casualty, Mind To Kill, Between the Lines, Heroes II, Gaslight and Candles, The Angry Earth, and Heartland. Film appearances include Paper Mask and The Shell Seekers.
He has recently played two leading parts in the inaugural season at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre: 'Leontes' in The Winter's Tale, and 'Milantius' in The Maid's Tragedy. Other stage appearances include The Tempest, Love's Labour Lost, The Merchant of Venice, Richard III, Volpone, and Under Milk Wood.
Mark describes SOLOMON & GAENOR as a 'tough uncompromising love story, set in very difficult times, against a backdrop of two conflicting religions and two conflicting communities. The part was a great chance to do something in Wales in Welsh and English.'
'My character, Crad is Idris's son and he's the eldest of four children, the others being Gaenor, Bronwen and Thomas. Crad has a complicated relationship with Gaenor. He's a very physical person who finds it hard to express himself, verbally. He acts through instinct and he's a natural leader. His fear of Solomon comes out in violence. He doesn't understand why Gaenor could go out with somebody who's not from round there, who's in fact from a different race.'
