Sweet and Lowdown a Sony Pictures Classics release a Woody Allen film

BRIAN MARKINSON (Bill Shields) –
was born in New York and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. He studied acting in London and then moved back to New York to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He starred on Broadway in Neil Simon’s "Lost in Yonkers," and was cast by director Mike Nichols in Jules Feiffer’s off-Broadway play, "Elliot Loves." He has worked with Nichols ever since appearing in such Nichols directed films as "Wolf," "Primary Colors" and the upcoming "What Planet Are You From?" Other feature film credits include "City of Angels," "Enemy of the State" and "Up Close and Personal."

Brian starred in last season’s Emmy-award winning two-part "NYPD Blues" episodes "Lost Israel – Parts 1 and 2." Upcoming projects include the Canadian feature "Bad Faith" with Michael Moriarty and Gloria Reuben and Woody Allen’s Summer 1999 Project. He now lives in Vancouver B.C. with his wife, actress Nancy Kerr and their two boys, Evan and Isaac.
