SEAN PENN (Emmet Ray) as an actor, Sean Penns work has spanned nearly two decades with over 25 films to his credit. His performance in "Dead Man Walking" garnered critical acclaim and an Acadey Award nomination for Best Actor. In 1997, he was honored with the Best Actor Award in Cannes for his portrayal in "Shes So Lovely." Last year, he was seen starring in Anthony Drazens "Hurlyburly," a film adaptation of David Rabes play for which he received the Best Actor Award at the Venice Film Festival, and "The Thin Red Line" directed by Terrence Malick. He will soon be seen in Phillip Haas "Up at the Villa," which is scheduled for release in early 2000. In recent years, Penns involvement has expanded to include writing and directing ("The Indian Runner," "The Crossing Guard") and he has since formed Clyde is Hungry Films, a production company that is based in San Francisco. |
