Born in 1958 in Leningrad, Burov studied at VGIK (the All-Russian
State Institute of Cinematography) in Moscow, graduating in 1981 with
a specialization in cinematography. Between 1985 and 1989 he has worked
at the Leningrad Documentary Film Studio (LSDF); since 1989 he has
worked as a cinematographer at Lenfilm Studios, where he has lensed
many films by Alexander Sokurov.
