Gutten Tag from Germany
September 11, 2006
Gutten tag!! Paul Rachman here from Oldenburg, Germany! Last night AMERICAN HARDCORE played for a raucous crowd of 300 German Hardcore Punk fans in this small German city — host of a 13-year-old film festival described as "the Sundance of Germany." The film had not screened to the public since the Sundance Film Festival in January 2006, and this German crowd included many very authentic current and former punks who totally GOT IT. Luckily, most Germans understand English as the film was not subtitled, and it was a great feeling for me that they really understood the message and the Americanism that is Hardcore Punk Rock. Music really has no borders, and neither does the Hardcore ethic. We all understand each other.
The other thing here is that the people here really know how to party. The parties after the screenings start after midnight and go till 6am. The next day the screenings do not start again until 4pm or 5pm. No morning screenings! Festivals take note...
