Additional Information...

FARINELLI is a film about an historical figure, Carlo Broschi. Carlo Broschi was a Castrato - a singer who was castrated before his voice could change, thus giving him a voice of incredible range and unusual quality. Being a film about a famous singer, the creation of the music for FARINELLI was of particular importance, especially considering the challenge of reproducing the mystical qualities of a castrato's voice. Writer and director Gerard Corbiau faced many other challenges, as well, some of which he spoke about in a special interview with Sony Pictures Classics.
