CECILIA ROTH (Manuela) Born in Argentina, Cecilia Roth was exiled in Spain during the Military regime that ruled her country in the 70s and early 80s. During this time she began to work as an actress and had small roles in some of Almodóvars early films, such as What Have I Done to Deserve This? and Dark Habits as well as starring in Ivan Zuluetas Arrebato, a landmark cult film of the time. After her return to Argentina, she has become one of her countrys leading actresses, participating in such local hits as Wild Horses and Ashes From Paradise (both by Marcelo Piñeyro), as well as several TV shows and stage performances. She has done some of her best work with Argentinian director Adolfo Aristarain, such as A Place in the World, which won the Golden Shell in San Sebastian for Best film, and Martin (Hache), for which she won the Best Actress Goya award in Spain in 1997. |
